May 2007 - Re-Roofed 5 years on
Hallett Silbermann have been busy moving numerous loads of long steelwork into the main railway station at Potters Bar in Hertfordshire, which was the scene of a tragic rail accident that occurred 5 years ago on 10th May 2002.
The train crash caused extensive damage to the platform, waiting room, and associated station structures including the station rail bridge, power lines and support towers, and 7 people lost their lives.
Since the accident, the station has undergone a major reconstruction and now a new canopy roof structure over the platform is being installed.
The steelwork, which is up to 24.8m (82’) in length was transported on Hallett Silbermann’s fleet of rear-steer double extending flat trailers and escorted by our own escort vehicles over four weekends. The loads, which were delivered late at night to tie-in with temporary closure of the railway, were pre-fabricated in Cambridgeshire.
