We're ready for London 2012. Are you?

Did you know there are 2 major issues affecting road transport deliveries into London in 2012 (and we are not talking about the Olympics – more on that in the next few months !)

Firstly, construction on the major infrastructure Crossrail project is now well underway. Crossrail will deliver a high frequency, high capacity rail service to 37 stations between Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west and Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, via 21km of new twin-bored tunnels under Central London.

TfL are major stakeholders in Crossrail, and transport contractors delivering to this major project must be an accredited FORS contractor (the Freight Operator Recognition Scheme operated by TfL). Hallett Silbermann have been granted FORS accreditation, and our drivers have been trained and certificated by Crossrail to collect and deliver to their sites.

If you need to collect goods from or deliver goods to the Crossrail project you should therefore contact Hallett Silbermann as we are approved contractors to this major infrastructure project. Consignments can be delivered into our London hub adjacent to the M25 and A1(M) motorway intersection where we can offer fork-lift and craneage transhipment facilities ( 24/7 by arrangement ) to meet your specific scheduling into or out of the Crossrail sites across Greater London.

Secondly, the new regulations concerning stricter exhaust emission standards in London for all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross take effect from 3rd January 2012. All such vehicles will have to meet the Euro 4 Particulate Matter Emissions Standard if they wish to enter the London Low Emissions Zone ( L.E.Z. ) which covers the vast majority of the area within the M25 motorway ring around London. Road transport contractors operating vehicles below this standard will have to pay a daily charge of £200.00 per vehicle.

Hallett Silbermann are pleased to confirm that our London-based fleet fully complies with the new emission standards. We instigated some time ago a rolling modification and replacement programme to ensure we would be fully compliant by the beginning of 2012.

If you only collect or deliver goods occasionally into London and do not operate a vehicle that meets the new standards you should contact Hallett Silbermann who can carry out such movements for you in compliance with the new regulations. Alternatively collect from or deliver in to our London hub and we will carry out the job for you.

Hallett Silbermann are pleased they can continue to offer a market-leading logistic service in our capital city.
