Crash Landing
April 2011
Recently Hallett Silbermann undertook an urgent request to recover a single engine light aircraft from a field in Bedfordshire following an emergency landing.

The young and inexperienced pilot had been faced with his worst nightmare when the engine of the four seater plane cut out in mid flight. With exceptional quick thinking he glided the plane down for a near perfect landing in a farmers field and stepped out of the aircraft unscathed.
The plane was intact, but like most aircraft, the wheels are spaced wide apart, making transport on a normal road trailer difficult. Hallett Silbermann, however, had the solution in the form of a purpose built frame which we have used when transporting various types of aircraft on many previous occasions. Within a couple of hours, the frame was on its way back to the crash site on the back of a semi low loader trailer, being pulled by an articulated lorry loader unit, along with an escort vehicle to accompany the vehicle once loaded.
Hallett Silbermann were able to obtain the necessary movement authorisations from the police at very short notice, and with the assistance of Mr Finn–Kelcey, the farmer in whose field the plane crash landed, we were able to complete the recovery of the plane taking it back to its home airfield for a full investigation.
