In order to access all the Crossrail sites, Hallett Silbermann operatives have undergone specialised induction training for the project, in preparation for their anticipated frequent visits to site.
The 90 tonne Liebherr 855 crawler crane pictured loaded in our depot is on its way to the western end of the proposed tunnel at Paddington, where it will be used with a 28 tonne hydraulic grab to excavate and construct the diaphragm walls of a large box, or "portal", into which a tunnel boring machine will eventually be lowered to commence boring the tunnel eastwards.
At the same time a similar portal is being constructed in East London, alongside the Olympic Park, from where a second tunnel boring machine will drive westwards, until the two machines meet up under Central London.
Our early commitment to specialist training to comply with the high safety standards on the Crossrail development enables Hallett Silbermann, having been accredited for this contract, to be well positioned to assist all sections of industry with deliveries to Crossrail sites.
