IPAF • ADR • CDG • Any More Acronyms ?
February 2010
We seem to live in a world of acronyms nowadays - Hallett Silbermann operatives all carry CSCS cards (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) and many also carry CPCS accreditation (Construction Plant Certification Scheme).
To enable our varied fleet to provide transport to as many sectors of business as possible, we have made good use of the unexpected down time following the recent extreme weather (see January news item ) by organising training as follows:-
IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) – some Hallett Silbermann operatives are now accredited to load and unload mobile elevating work platforms such as “cherry pickers” or “access platforms”.
ADR (“Accord Dangereuse Route”) - the Carriage of Dangerous Goods [CDG] and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 regulate the European ADR agreement concerning the carriage of dangerous goods by road . Now some Hallett Silbermann operatives have received vocational training by attending a Department for Transport approved course so that we can comply with the new regulations. This enables us to transport almost all hazardous goods and will be of particular use to our customers who operate generators incorporating fuel tanks which are covered by these regulations.
We are quite sure there will be more acronyms to learn about, which will, no doubt, involve us investing further in up to date certification and training for our skilled operatives.
